Identifying the Most Appropriate Method for 5z2=175z^2 = 17, 4x212x+9=04x^2 - 12x + 9 = 0, and 8u2+6u=118u^2 + 6u = 11

Determine the most appropriate solving method for each quadratic equation by examining its structure:

5z2=175z^2 = 17

This equation has the form az2=kaz^2 = k — the squared variable term is on one side and a constant is on the other, with no linear term. The most appropriate method is the Square Root Property.

4x212x+9=04x^2 - 12x + 9 = 0

The left side of this equation is a perfect square trinomial, since 4x212x+9=(2x3)24x^2 - 12x + 9 = (2x - 3)^2. Because the trinomial factors readily, the most appropriate method is Factoring.

8u2+6u=118u^2 + 6u = 11

First, write the equation in standard form: 8u2+6u11=08u^2 + 6u - 11 = 0. Although factoring might be attempted first, considering all the trial-and-error possibilities needed for a leading coefficient of 88 and a constant of 11-11 makes it impractical. The most appropriate method is the Quadratic Formula.
