Quadratic Equation in Two Variables

A quadratic equation in two variables is an equation that can be written in the form y=ax2+bx+cy = ax^2 + bx + c, where aa, bb, and cc are real numbers and a0a \neq 0. Unlike linear equations in two variables, which graph as straight lines, quadratic equations in two variables contain a squared term and therefore have non-linear graphs.
