Jaber and Kennedy(Social presence, identity, and online learning: research development and needs)
Jaber and Kennedy explored how students in four different continents could work as a group in an online program in an international context. They found that trustworthy social interaction was critical in making them feel emotionally supported, which helped them learn. In addition, by sharing, students viewed themselves differently.
