Social Presence and Identity in an Online Environment
Establishing a social presence and identity can be difficult in an online environment, lacking visual and aural cues. However, learners do have a say in their degree of social presence, attributed to how much they participate. This allows others to grasp who they are based on the identity clues they give within their participation. However, people do show different sides of themselves depending on the environment.
