It functions as a theoretical repository for 'memory traces' or mental patterns inherited from our ancestors and shared by all of humanity. These ancestral memories contain universal themes and symbols known as archetypes, which are common to all people regardless of culture.

The persona is a mask that one can wear in different situations. People do not realize when they wear these masks, but it can be observed. This concept was developed by Carl Jung. He described the persona as being developed from people's conscious experiences and collective unconscious.
