Persona
In Jungian psychology, the persona is a metaphorical mask that an individual consciously adopts. This persona is shaped by both personal conscious experiences and the collective unconscious. Its function is to mediate between the individual's true self and the demands of society, representing a compromise between these two forces. This often involves concealing personal traits that do not align with societal expectations.
