The Ego is the organizer and center of consensus in the Psyche. It is both conscious and unconscious.

The personal unconscious is a concept in Jung's analytical psychology that refers to the layer of the mind containing an individual's unique experiences that have been forgotten or repressed. While Carl Jung incorporated this idea, which is similar to Freud's concept of the unconscious, he viewed it as an incomplete explanation of the unconscious mind on its own.

Personal Unconscious

The collective unconscious, a concept from Carl Jung's analytical psychology, is a universal version of the personal unconscious. It functions as a theoretical repository for 'memory traces' or mental patterns inherited from our ancestors and shared by all of humanity. These ancestral memories contain universal themes and symbols known as archetypes, which are common to all people regardless of culture.

Collective Unconscious

Jung understood the Psyche in a deeper way after studying psychotic patients in Burghölzi. He found that delusions and hallucinations were at least in a small way, meaningful to the patients. He also put blame on the doctors of the patients instead of the patients themselves because he saw the issue as a lack of others not understanding them rather than the patient’s disorderly state being the problem.

Carl Gustav Jung developed his theory of personality surrounding an idea of the Psyche. He describes the Psyche as the main part of his theory, with four different aspects going into it. First is the Psychic Energy, also known as “Libido.” Next, is the principle of opposites, followed by the principle of equivalence. Finally, there is the principle of entropy.

In Jung's theory, the end goal is self-realization, or the combination of many components and forces of the psyche. This is combined with Individualization, or the process of psychological maturity. Individualization is the path to take to achieve self-realization.
