Mindfulness and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: Focus on Maladaptive Cognitions
This is a key difference between Mindfulness-Based Intervention (MBIs) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because mindfulness works to simply accept maladaptive cognitions, while CBT attempts to change them. CBT relies on "cognitive restructuring" in order to disprove maladaptive thoughts rather than the mindfulness focus of accepting these thoughts.
