Stage 7 of Erikson's Theory of Psychosocial Development

The seventh stage of psychosocial development, generativity versus stagnation, occurs during middle adulthood, from approximately age 30 to 64. The primary social task of this period is to find one's life's work and contribute to the development of others. This sense of generativity can be achieved through activities like mentoring, volunteering, or raising children. Individuals who fail to master this task may experience stagnation, which is characterized by a lack of connection with others and little interest in productivity or self-improvement.
