Studying Demographic and Socioeconomic Factors
Demographic and socioeconomic factors of the parents of children with disabilities (including age, gender, employment status, household income, number of people in the household, country of birth, education level, area of residence, language spoken at home) were identified and used as covariates. Of the 4,935 children and their primary carers included in the study, parents of children with disabilities differed significantly from parents of children without disabilities. Parents of children without disabilities had notably higher education levels (70.97% vs. 61.22% completed year 12 or equivalent), employment rate (69.87% vs. 56.41% employed), and weekly household income ($1879.72 vs. $1716.48) compared to parents of children with disabilities.
