Substance Abuse Management Module (SAMM) for Comorbid Psychotic Disorder and Substance Use Disorder
The substance abuse management module (SAMM) targets relapse prevention and harm reduction through social skills training that focus on improving communication and problem solving skills to encourage abstinence from substances and a healthier recovery process. This approach often uses role-playing in group treatment sessions to first identify a problem associated with recovery, then have the group brainstorm ways to address the issue, and finally have peers model how to handle the issue. In these role-playing activities, the therapist provides positive feedback and constructive criticism to assist the group.
