The Struggles of Privacy and Care

Intimate relationships for women who need physical support face special challenges. They must balance the need for help with the desire for privacy. When a partner also provides care, it can upset the balance in the relationship and create uncomfortable power struggles. Many disabled women prefer to have professional caregivers to keep their independence. This balance between love and care can make relationships complicated, as dependency can take away from real connections. As a result, some women choose not to mix caregiving with romantic feelings.
