Intersectionality and Discrimination
To understand the challenges faced by disabled women, we need to look at how gender and disability intersect. This intersection creates unique problems that are often ignored by Japan's incomplete anti-discrimination laws. The idea of intersectionality, introduced by Kimberle Crenshaw, helps explain that disabled women experience discrimination differently from men and non-disabled people. Unfortunately, Japan's legal framework does not address these complex issues. As a result, disabled women face various forms of discrimination that impact all aspects of their lives, especially in their intimate relationships.
