Ventral Tegmental Area (VTA)

The ventral tegmental area (VTA) is a region situated in the midbrain that consists of dopamine-producing cells, making it vital for motor control and movement. Beyond motor regulation, the VTA plays a central role in the brain's reward pathways, mood modulation, and addictive behaviors. The deterioration of the VTA, alongside other dopamine-producing structures, contributes significantly to Parkinson's disease.
