Behavioral Diagnostic Criteria for Prader-Willi Syndrome
While genetic testing is available for diagnosis, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is also associated with several behavioral criteria that appear on a developmental timeline. Early signs from birth to age two can include poor muscle tone and weak sucking behavior. Between the ages of six and twelve, developmental delays are often observed. The more commonly known symptoms, such as excessive eating and cognitive deficits, typically manifest after this period.
