Prader-Willi Syndrome Hypothalamic Abnormalities
Individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) show evidence of abnormalities in the hypothalamus. Since the hypothalamus regulates hunger and eating, this disruption can lead to excessive eating. Furthermore, because the hypothalamus is involved in regulating sexual behavior, many affected individuals fail to reach sexual maturity during adolescence.
