Hypothalamic Abnormalities in Prader-Willi Syndrome

Evidence suggests that individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) have abnormalities in their hypothalamus. Because the hypothalamus is crucial for regulating both hunger and sexual behavior, these irregularities are believed to be the cause of key PWS symptoms, such as intense, constant hunger and the failure to reach sexual maturity.
