Binomial Nomenclature

Binomial nomenclature is a standard two-word naming system used to identify organisms. Developed by Linnaeus, this system assigns each organism a scientific name comprising its genus and a specific epithet. According to convention, both parts of the name are italicized, with the genus name always capitalized and the specific epithet written in lowercase (e.g., Homo sapiens).
