Conditioned Stimulus

In classical conditioning, a conditioned stimulus is an initially neutral stimulus that eventually triggers a response after being repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus. For example, after Ivan Pavlov repeatedly paired a tone with meat powder, the tone became a conditioned stimulus because it began to independently elicit salivation from the dogs.
