Cosmological Symbolism in Section 66 of Sanai's Hadiqat

In Section 66, Sanai employs standard medieval Persian cosmological terminology to describe the physical world and the human spirit's transcendence over it.

  • Seven Wheels (هفت چرخ): The seven celestial spheres or planets of traditional geocentric astronomy.
  • Four Pillars/Elements (چار ارکان): The sublunary elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire) that constitute the material world.
  • Akhshijan (آخشیجان): A term for the opposing elements or the material constituents of the universe.
  • Rotating Dome (گنبد دوار): The revolving heavens.

Sanai characterizes these material entities as 'dead' (مردگان) and 'base' (خوار) compared to the human soul, which is of a 'divine essence' (گوهر) beyond both worlds. He urges the seeker to exert spiritual authority (پنج نوبت زنی) over these cosmic structures to achieve union with the Divine (قبیلهٔ بقای حق).
