Example of Foot-in-the-Door Technique: Campaign Buttons and Signs
An example of the foot-in-the-door technique involves using escalating requests in a political context. A persuader may first get an individual to agree to a minor request, such as wearing a political campaign button. Following this initial agreement, the individual becomes more receptive to a subsequent, more significant request, such as putting campaign signs in their yard.
