Expanded Notation

When an expression involving exponents is written out explicitly as the repeated multiplication of its base, it is in expanded notation. For example, while the expression 232^3 is in exponential notation, its equivalent in expanded notation is 2222 \cdot 2 \cdot 2. This notation clearly displays every individual factor being multiplied.
