Figure 6.4: Labour Market Flows in the EU (Q4 2021 - Q1 2022)

Figure 6.4 provides a snapshot of labour market dynamics in the European Union, tracking worker movements between the end of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022. In late 2021, 65% of the working-age population constituted the labour force, of which 3.6% were unemployed and job-seeking. Over the subsequent three months, the market saw significant churn: approximately 7 million individuals exited employment, transitioning into unemployment or leaving the labour force, while 9 million people who were formerly unemployed or inactive successfully entered employment.
