Fossil Fuel Combustion as a Driver of Modern Global Warming

The combustion of fossil fuels for industrial processes and power generation is the primary source of increased atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). This CO2, along with other greenhouse gases, functions by permitting solar radiation to enter the atmosphere while preventing reflected heat from escaping. This heat-trapping mechanism leads to a rise in global atmospheric temperatures and subsequent changes in the Earth's climate.
