Life Stressors and Physical Illness Hypothesis

Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe hypothesized that life events requiring significant changes in a person's normal routines are stressful, whether desirable or undesirable. They proposed that experiencing a cluster of such stressful events can add up over time, increasing the risk of developing physical illnesses.
