Scoring the Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRRS)

The process for scoring the Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRRS) involves an individual identifying all the life events from the 43-item list that they have experienced within the last 12 months. The Life Change Units (LCUs) associated with each of these selected events are then added together. The resulting total score provides a quantitative measure of the cumulative life change the person has undergone in the past year.
