Concept
Spacing and Self-testing impact on URM students study results of the intervention on self-testing
- In year 1, between pre- and post surveys, the number of students in the intervention class that used self-testing increased 8.3% while the other two sections decreased by 19.7% and 18.2%
- In year 2, between pre- and post surveys, the number of students in the intervention class that used self-testing decreased by 1.5% and the control sections decreased by 20.1%% and 23.8%
- For both years, the intervention section had a higher percentage of students who continued to use self-testing throughout the semester
- In year 1, URM students utilized self-testing at a similar percentage to non-URM students but in year 2, URMs had a lower percentage
- Students who reported self-testing OR spacing did better than cramming students
- There was no significant difference in grades between URM students and non-URM students who self reported self-testing
- URM students who did not self-test did significantly worse than non-URM students who did not self-test
