Creating Useful As-Built Records for Electrical Work

As-built records are the final set of project documents that show how the electrical installation was actually completed, not just how it was designed. They should capture changes such as rerouted conduit, revised equipment placement, and any field adjustments that differ from the original drawings. Photos taken during rough-in are especially helpful because they preserve information that later disappears behind drywall, ceilings, or other finishes. Good as-built records are included in project closeout and make later repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting much easier. When these records are missing or inaccurate, closeout can be delayed and the owner may have trouble maintaining the system.
