Developmental Trajectories of Borderline Personality Disorder in Childhood and Adolescence: Poor Emotional Awareness
Teens presenting symptoms of BPD were more likely to have low levels of emotional awareness throughout childhood and adolescence, which appeared to decrease the older that they got. It is possible that this lack of emotional awareness may be a factor behind the emotional dysregulation that is commonly seen in individuals with borderline personality disorder.
