Developmental Trajectories of Borderline Personality Disorder in Childhood and Adolescence: Emotional Dysregulation
Higher levels of emotional dysregulation from an early age is considered to be a major predictor of the increased BPD symptoms later in life. This is true for both anger and sadness yet studies have found that only sadness dysregulation may be unique to the development of BPD. However, while dysregulated anger is correlated to increased BPD symptoms, it is also correlated with major depressive disorder and conduct disorder symptoms.
