[ICD-11] 22. Injury, Poisoning, or Certain Other Consequences of External Causes

Description:

  • Injuries are from physical or physiological bodily harm that results from interaction of the body with energy (mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical, radiant, or pressure) in an amount or rate of transfer that exceeds physical or physiological tolerance. Injuries also include situations that result from lack of vital elements (oxygen), poisoning by toxic effects of substances, and damage due to an implanted device.
  • Injuries typically have a rapid onset resulting from an injury occurring event. These can originate externally, from the person or their immediate environment, or are self-inflected.

  • Stress Fracture, Not Elsewhere Classified
  • Pathological Fracture
  • Certain Specified Obstetric Trauma
  • Malunion of Fracture
  • Birth Injury
  • Nonunion of Fracture
