[ICD-11] 21. Symptoms, Signs, or Clinical Findings, Not Elsewhere Classified

Description:

  • Clinical findings that are found using physical, laboratory, and imaging techniques. As diseases can manifest in each individual differently, these findings focus more on being able to resolve or treat the issue, with less importance placed on identifying or addressing underlying conditions. This includes conditions without specified diagnostic criteria that could be designated as ‘Not Otherwise Specified’, ‘Unknown Etiology’, or ‘Transient’.

Conditions, Signs, or Symptoms Specifically Included in This List:

  • Cases for which no more specific diagnosis can be made even after all facts on the case have been investigated.
  • Signs or symptoms existing at the time of initial encounter that proved to be transient and whose cause could not be determined.
  • Provisional diagnoses in a patient who failed to return for further investigative care,
  • Cases referred elsewhere for investigation or treatment before the diagnosis was made.
  • Cases in which a more precises diagnosis was not available for any other reason.
  • Certain symptoms, for which supplementary information is provided, that represent important problems in medical care in their own right.

Excluded from This List:

  • Certain Conditions Originating in the Perinatal Period
  • Clinical Findings on Antenatal Screening of Mother
