Increased Risk of Substance Use in Individuals with MID-BIF

Adolescents with mild intellectual disability or borderline intellectual functioning have a higher risk of substance use disorders than their non-disabled peers. Limited coping skills, cognitive deficits, and an increased susceptibility to peer pressure are all contributing factors.
