Evaluating a Visualization of Global Income Distribution

A common method for visualizing global income distribution is a three-dimensional chart. In this chart, countries are arranged horizontally from poorest to richest based on their average income. For each country, a series of ten bars represents the income of each decile (10% segment) of the population, from the poorest in the front to the richest in the back. The height of each bar corresponds to the average income of that decile.

Critique this method of visualization. In your answer, identify at least one major strength in how it represents inequality compared to a simple ranked list of countries by average income. Also, identify and explain at least one significant limitation or potential source of misinterpretation inherent in this chart's design.
