روضهٔ اول / First Garden (Rowzeh 1) of Baharestan

The First Garden (Rowzeh-ye Avval) is the opening chapter of Jami's Baharestan, a fifteenth-century collection of prose interspersed with verse modeled on Saadi's Golestan. This garden gathers anecdotes and sayings on the states, conduct, and wisdom of the Sufi masters and people of the heart (صاحبدلان). Its opening sections frame the whole work by explaining that recounting the stories of the prophets and saints serves to strengthen and steady the reader's heart, setting the didactic and spiritual tone for the sections that follow.
