English translation

Jahiz says: I never saw myself so ashamed as one day when a woman seized me and took me to the door of the shop of a master statue-caster, so much so that I was bewildered as to what the matter was. I asked that master, and he said: She had ordered me to make her an image in the form of Satan. I said: I do not know in what shape it should be made — so she brought you, that it might be made in this shape!

You have such a monstrous face and complexion, No one can be fashioned with such a face and complexion. For depicting the form of Satan, Nothing but your face can be taken as a model.
