English translation

A camel and a donkey were traveling together. They came to the bank of a great stream. The camel entered first; when it reached the middle of the stream, the water rose up to its belly. It called out to the donkey, 'Come in, for the water is no more than belly-deep!' The donkey said: 'You speak truly, but there is a difference between one belly and another; the water that reached your belly would pass right over my back!'

O brother, no one knows you better than yourself, So do not reckon yourself a single hair's breadth more than what you are. If someone praises you beyond your true measure, he is a fool; Know your own worth, and do not set your foot beyond your bounds.
