English translation

A person made a claim of ten dirhams against Juhi. The judge asked: Do you have a witness? He said: No. He said: Then I will put him under oath. He said: What credit is his oath worth? Every moment he swallows a thousand false oaths, in the manner that a bedouin in the desert [drinks] buttermilk. Juhi said: O judge of the Muslims! In the mosque of our quarter there is an imam, pious, truthful in speech, and virtuous in deed; summon him and let him swear the oath in my place, so that this man's mind may be set at ease.
