ابلهان گویند کین افسانه را
خط بکش زیرا دروغست و خطا
زانک مریم وقت وضع حمل خویش
بود از بیگانه دور و هم ز خویش
از برون شهر آن شیرین فسون
تا نشد فارغ نیامد خود درون
چون بزادش آنگهانش بر کنار
بر گرفت و برد تا پیش تبار
مادر یحیی کجا دیدش که تا
گوید او را این سخن در ماجرا
English translation
Fools say: "Cross out this tale, For it is a lie and an error— Since Mary, at the time of her delivery, Was far from stranger and kin alike. Outside the city, that sweet wonder, She did not come within until she was freed of her burden. When she gave birth, she then took him to her side, Picked him up and brought him before her people." Where did the mother of Yahya see her, That she should speak to her these words in this matter?
