Property of One

Any nonzero number divided by itself equals 11. Expressed formally, aa=1\frac{a}{a} = 1 provided a0a \neq 0. For example, a pie cut into 66 slices still represents one whole pie when all 66 slices are present: 66=1\frac{6}{6} = 1. This property holds for every nonzero value—whether the number is an integer, a fraction, or any other quantity—because dividing a quantity into equal parts and then taking all of those parts always reconstitutes the original whole.
