Section 8

Original content

English translation

A sage was asked: When should a human being hasten to eat? He said: The wealthy person whenever he grows hungry, and the poor person whenever he finds food.

Eat only so much that the house of the body falls not into ruin from either excess or deficiency. If you are one who possesses, [eat] whenever you wish; and if you are one without means, whenever you find it.
