Procedure: Fostering self-regulation through mindful yoga for middle schoolers
- The teacher who integrated mindful yoga into her class was a registered yoga teacher (200 hours), conducted her own personal yoga practice, and completed the 30-hour YogaKids training program
- The mindful yoga practiced involved focusing on a single yoga pose each week (held for 2 minutes). After the pose, the class participated in a 2 minute long mindful meditation practice, with specific attention given to the breath. The teacher led the students through 3 deep breaths and then let them go through the rest of the meditation alone.
- Yoga poses done included warrior pose, downward dog, sun salutation, and tree pose.
