دفتر اول - بخش ۱۱۰ - قصهٔ خلیفه کی در کرم در زمان خود از حاتم طائی گذشته بود و نظیر خود نداشت / Book One - Section 110 - The Tale of the Caliph Who in His Time Surpassed Hatim al-Tai in Generosity and Had No Equal

Original content

English translation

There was once a caliph in days of old Who had made Ḥātim the slave of his own generosity.

He raised the banner of honor and justice, And lifted poverty and need from the world.

Sea and pearl became pure through his giving; His justice and gifts extended from Qāf to Qāf.

In the world of earth he was cloud and water, The manifestation of al-Wahhāb's munificence.

From his bounty, sea and mine trembled; Toward his generosity, caravans upon caravans came.

His door and gate were the qibla of need; His fame for generosity had spread throughout the world.

Both Persians and Byzantines, both Turks and Arabs Stood amazed at his generosity and munificence.

He was the Water of Life and the sea of nobility; Both Arabs and Persians were made alive by him.
