Original content
English translation
One day Muṣṭafā went to the graveyard, He went with the funeral bier of a man among his companions. He packed the earth in the man's grave, Beneath the earth he gave new life to that seed of his.
These trees are like earthly creatures, They have thrust their hands up out of the earthen place. Toward all beings they make a hundred signs, And to one who has ears, they speak in utterance.
With green tongue and with outstretched hand, From the inner depths of the earth they tell secrets. Like ducks that plunged their heads into the water, They became peacocks, though they once were like crows.
If in winter He imprisoned them, God turned those crows into peacocks. In their winter, even though He gave them death, He gave them life through spring and gave them leaves.
The deniers say: "This is itself eternal — Why should we ascribe this to the Generous Lord?" Despite their blindness, within the friends of God The Truth caused gardens and orchards to grow.
Every flower that was fragrant within Spoke eloquently of the secrets of the Whole. Their fragrance, despite the noses of the deniers, Goes around the world, tearing away veils.
The deniers, like dung-beetles at the scent of roses, Or like the tender-brained at the sound of the drum, Keep themselves busy and submerged, They steal their eyes away from this flashing of lightning.
They steal their eyes away — and yet there is no eye there; An eye is that which sees a place of refuge.
When the Prophet returned from the graveyard, He came to Ṣiddīqa and became intimate with her. When Ṣiddīqa's eye fell upon his face, She came forward and laid her hand upon him — Upon his turban and his face and his hair, Upon his collar and his chest and his arms.
The Prophet said: "What are you seeking in haste?" She said: "Rain came today from the clouds. I am searching through your garments in quest of it, I find them not wet from the rain — how wondrous!"
He said: "What did you cast over your head as a wrap?" She said: "I used that robe of yours as a head-covering." He said: "For that reason it was shown, O pure-bosomed one, God showed your pure eyes the rain of the Unseen. That rain is not from this cloud of yours; There is another cloud and another sky."
