متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

بانگ می آمد که ای طالب بیاجود، محتاج گدایان چون گدا
A voice was crying out, 'O seeker, come!
Generosity is in need of beggars, just as the beggar is.'
جود می جوید گدایان و ضعافهمچو خوبان کآینه جویند صاف
Generosity seeks the beggars and the weak,
Just as beautiful ones seek a clear mirror.
روی خوبان ز آینه زیبا شودروی احسان از گدا پیدا شود
The face of the beautiful becomes lovely from the mirror;
The face of beneficence becomes visible from the beggar.
پس ازین فرمود حق در والضحیبانگ کم زن ای محمد بر گدا
Therefore, God commanded in the chapter of Ad-Duha:
'O Muhammad, do not scold the beggar.'
چون گدا آیینهٔ جودست هاندم بود بر روی آیینه زیان
Since the beggar is the mirror of generosity, beware!
A breath on the face of the mirror is an injury.
آن یکی جودش گدا آرد پدیدو آن دگر بخشد گدایان را مزید
That one's generosity brings the beggar into existence,
And that other one bestows increase upon the beggars.
پس گدایان آیت جود حقندوانک با حقند جود مطلقند
Therefore, beggars are the sign of God's generosity,
And those who are with God are absolute generosity.
وانک جز این دوست او خود مرده ایستاو برین در نیست نقش پرده ایست
And whoever is other than these two is himself a dead man;
He is not at this door, he is but a painted figure on a curtain.
