دفتر اول - بخش ۱۶۱ - گفتن پیغامبر صلی الله علیه و سلم مر زید را کی این سر را فاش‌تر ازین مگو و متابعت نگهدار / Book One - Section 161 - The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, telling Zayd, 'Do not reveal this secret more openly than this, and maintain obedience'

Original content

English translation

The Prophet said: “My companions are stars, candles for wayfarers and missiles against devils. If everyone possessed that eye and power by which he could take light from the sun of the heavens, what need would there be of a star, O lowly one, to point him toward the sun’s light? The moon says to earth, cloud, and shadow: ‘I was human, yet revelation is given to me. Like you, I was dark in my nature; the sun of revelation gave me such light. I have darkness in relation to the suns, but I have light for the darknesses of souls. I am weak for this reason, so that you may be able to endure the radiance, for you are not a man for the shining sun. I mixed honey and vinegar together so that I might find a way to the suffering liver. When you are freed from illness, O captive, leave the vinegar and eat honey. The throne of the heart has been made flourishing and purified of desire; see that “the All-Merciful established Himself upon the Throne.” From now on, after the heart has found this relation, God will rule the heart without intermediary. This discourse has no end. Where is Zayd, so that I may counsel him: do not seek disgrace?’”
