دفتر اول - بخش ۱۴ - تلبیس وزیر با نصاری / Book One - Section 14 - The Vizier's Deception of the Christians

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

پس بگویم من به سر نصرانیمای خدای رازدان می دانیم
Then I will say that I am secretly a Christian,
O God, the Knower of secrets, You know me.
شاه واقف گشت از ایمان منوز تعصب کرد قصد جان من
The king became aware of my faith,
And out of bigotry, he intended to take my life.
خواستم تا دین ز شه پنهان کنمآنک دین اوست ظاهر آن کنم
I wanted to hide my religion from the king,
And make apparent the religion that is his.
شاه بویی برد از اسرار منمتهم شد پیش شه گفتار من
The king caught a scent of my secrets,
And my words became suspect before the king.
گفت گفت تو چو در نان سوزنستاز دل من تا دل تو روزنست
He said, 'Your words are like a needle in bread;
There is a window from my heart to your heart.
من از آن روزن بدیدم حال توحال تو دیدم ننوشم قال تو
Through that window I saw your state;
I saw your state, I will not drink your speech.
گر نبودی جان عیسی چاره اماو جهودانه بکردی پاره ام
If it were not for the life of Jesus as my remedy,
He would have torn me to pieces in a Jewish manner.
بهر عیسی جان سپارم سر دهمصد هزاران منتش بر خود نهم
For the sake of Jesus I will give up my life and offer my head,
I place a hundred thousand obligations upon myself.
جان دریغم نیست از عیسی ولیکواقفم بر علم دینش نیک نیک
I do not withhold my life from Jesus, but
I am very well aware of the knowledge of his religion.
حیف می آمد مرا کان دین پاکدرمیان جاهلان گردد هلاک
It was a pity for me that that pure religion
Should perish among the ignorant.
شکر ایزد را و عیسی را که ماگشته ایم آن کیش حق را ره نما
Thanks be to God and to Jesus that we
Have become the guide to that religion of Truth.
از جهود و از جهودی رسته ایمتا به زناری میان را بسته ایم
We have escaped from the Jew and Jewishness,
Since we have bound our waist with the zunnar.
دور دور عیسیست ای مردمانبشنوید اسرار کیش او بجان
The era is the era of Jesus, O people!
Listen to the secrets of his religion with your soul.'
کرد با وی شاه آن کاری که گفتخلق حیران مانده زان مکر نهفت
The king did with him that deed which he had said;
The people remained bewildered by that hidden deceit.
راند او را جانب نصرانیانکرد در دعوت شروع او بعد از آن
He drove him towards the Christians;
After that, he began to preach.
