جهد پیغامبر به فتح مکه هم
کی بود در حب دنیا متهم

آنک او از مخزن هفت آسمان
چشم و دل بر بست روز امتحان

از پی نظارهٔ او حور و جان
پر شده آفاق هر هفت آسمان

خویشتن آراسته از بهر او
خود ورا پروای غیر دوست کو

آنچنان پر گشته از اجلال حق
که درو هم ره نیابد آل حق

لا یسع فینا نبی مرسل
والملک و الروح ایضا فاعقلوا

گفت مازاغیم همچون زاغ نه
مست صباغیم مست باغ نه

چونک مخزن های افلاک و عقول
چون خسی آمد بر چشم رسول

پس چه باشد مکه و شام و عراق
که نماید او نبرد و اشتیاق

آن گمان بر وی ضمیر بد کند
کو قیاس از جهل و حرص خود کند

آبگینهٔ زرد چون سازی نقاب
زرد بینی جمله نور آفتاب

بشکن آن شیشهٔ کبود و زرد را
تا شناسی گرد را و مرد را

گرد فارس گرد سر افراشته
گرد را تو مرد حق پنداشته

گرد دید ابلیس و گفت این فرع طین
چون فزاید بر من آتش جبین

تا تو می بینی عزیزان را بشر
دانک میراث بلیس ست آن نظر

گر نه فرزندی ، بلیسی ای عنید
پس به تو میراث آن سگ چون رسید

من نیم سگ ، شیر حقم حق پرست
شیر حق آنست کز صورت برست

شیر دنیا جوید اشکاری و برگ
شیر مولی جوید آزادی و مرگ

چونک اندر مرگ بیند صد وجود
همچو پروانه بسوزاند وجود

شد هوای مرگ طوق صادقان
که جهودان را بد این دم امتحان

در نبی فرمود کای قوم یهود
صادقان را مرگ باشد گنج و سود

همچنانک آرزوی سود هست
آرزوی مرگ بردن زان بهست

ای جهودان بهر ناموس کسان
بگذرانید این تمنا بر زبان

یک جهودی این قدر زهره نداشت
چون محمد این علم را بر فراشت

گفت اگر رانید این را بر زبان
یک یهودی خود نماند در جهان

پس یهودان مال بردند و خراج
که مکن رسوا تو ما را ای سراج

این سخن را نیست پایانی پدید
دست با من ده چو چشمت دوست دید

English translation

The Prophet's striving for the conquest of Mecca, too: how could it be suspect as love of the world? He who, on the day of trial, closed eye and heart to the treasury of the seven heavens. For the sake of gazing on him, houris and spirits had filled the horizons of all seven heavens; they had adorned themselves for him, yet what concern had he with anyone other than the Friend? He was so filled with the majesty of the Real that even the household of the Real found no way into him. 'A sent prophet is not contained among Us, nor the angel and the Spirit either, so understand.' He said, 'We are ma zagha, not like a crow; we are drunk with the Dyer, not drunk with the garden.' Since the treasuries of the heavens and intellects seemed like a straw to the Messenger's eye, then what are Mecca, Syria, and Iraq, that he should show battle and longing for them? Such suspicion is made against him by one whose inner self is bad, who measures by his own ignorance and greed. If you make yellow glass a veil, you see all the sunlight as yellow. Break that blue and yellow glass, so that you may know the dust from the man. The dust of the horseman, the dust raised high: you have taken the dust for the man of God. Iblis saw dust and said, 'How can this branch of clay surpass me, whose brow is fire?' As long as you see the dear ones as human only, know that this view is Iblis's inheritance. If you are not a child of Iblis, stubborn one, how did that dog's inheritance reach you? I am not a dog; I am God's lion, a worshipper of God. God's lion is the one who has escaped form. The lion of the world seeks prey and provision; the lion of the Lord seeks freedom and death. Since he sees a hundred existences in death, he burns up existence like a moth. Desire for death became the collar of the truthful, for this utterance was the Jews' test. Concerning the Prophet, He said: 'O people of the Jews, death is treasure and profit for the truthful. Just as there is desire for profit, desire for death is better than that. O Jews, for the sake of reputation before people, let this wish pass over your tongue.' Not one Jew had that much courage when Muhammad raised this banner. He said: 'If you let this pass over your tongue, not one Jew will remain in the world.' Then the Jews brought wealth and tribute, saying, 'Do not disgrace us, O Lamp.' This discourse has no visible end. Give me your hand, since your eye has seen the Friend.
