آن غزان ترک خون ریز آمدند
بهر یغما بر دهی ناگه زدند
دو کس از اعیان آن ده یافتند
در هلاک آن یکی بشتافتند
دست بستندش که قربانش کنند
گفت ای شاهان و ارکان بلند
در چه مرگم چرا می افکنید
از چه آخر تشنهٔ خون منید
چیست حکمت چه غرض در کشتنم
چون چنین درویشم و عریان تنم
گفت تا هیبت برین یارت زند
تا بترسد او و زر پیدا کند
گفت آخر او ز من مسکین ترست
گفت قاصد کرده است او را زرست
گفت چون وهمست ما هر دو یکیم
در مقام احتمال و در شکیم
خود ورا بکشید اول ای شهان
تا بترسم من دهم زر را نشان
پس کرمهای الهی بین که ما
آمدیم آخر زمان در انتها
آخرین قرنها پیش از قرون
در حدیثست آخرون السابقون
تا هلاک قوم نوح و قوم هود
عارض رحمت بجان ما نمود
کشت ایشان را که ما ترسیم ازو
ور خود این بر عکس کردی وای تو
English translation
Those blood-shedding Ghuzz Turks came and suddenly struck a village for plunder. They found two leading men of that village and hastened to destroy one of them. They bound his hands to sacrifice him. He said, "O kings and lofty pillars, into what death are you casting me? Why, after all, are you thirsty for my blood? What wisdom, what purpose is there in killing me, when I am so poor and bare-bodied?" They said, "So that dread may strike this companion of yours, so that he will be afraid and disclose the gold." He said, "But he is poorer than I." They said, "He has done it on purpose; he has gold." He said, "Since this is supposition, the two of us are alike; we are in the station of possibility and doubt. Kill him himself first, O kings, so that I may become frightened and show where the gold is." Then behold the divine graces: we have come at the end of time, at the very end. We are the last generations, yet ahead of the generations; in the hadith it is, 'The last are the first.' The destruction of the people of Noah and the people of Hud showed an aspect of mercy to our souls. He killed them so that we might fear because of it; if He had done this in reverse, woe to you!
