سوی مکه شیخ امت بایزید
از برای حج و عمره می دوید

او به هر شهری که رفتی از نخست
مر عزیزان را بکردی بازجست

گرد می گشتی که اندر شهر کیست
کو بر ارکان بصیرت متکیست

گفت حق اندر سفر هر جا روی
باید اول طالب مردی شوی

قصد گنجی کن که این سود و زیان
در تبع آید تو آن را فرع دان

هر که کارد قصد گندم باشدش
کاه خود اندر تبع می آیدش

که بکاری بر نیاید گندمی
مردمی جو مردمی جو مردمی

قصد کعبه کن چو وقت حج بود
چونک رفتی مکه هم دیده شود

قصد در معراج دید دوست بود
درتبع عرش و ملایک هم نمود

English translation

The sheikh of the community, Bayazid, was hurrying toward Mecca for Hajj and Umra. In every city he entered, from the outset he would seek out the venerable ones. He would go around asking, 'Who is there in this city who rests on the pillars of inner sight?' The Real said: wherever you travel, first you must become a seeker of a true man. Set your aim on the treasure; this profit and loss comes as a consequence, so regard it as secondary. Whoever sows has wheat as his aim; the straw comes along of itself as a consequence. If you sow straw, no wheat will come up: seek true humanity, seek true humanity, seek true humanity. Aim for the Ka'ba when it is the time of Hajj; when you go, Mecca too will be seen. The aim in the Mi'raj was the sight of the Friend; the Throne and the angels were also shown alongside it as a consequence.
